TikTok chief executive Shou Zi Chew is scheduled to testify at a hearing of the House Energy and Commerce Committee on March 23, the panel said in a statement on Monday. U.S. lawmakers have been concerned with issues including alleged sharing of American users’ data with China. The app is owned by ByteDance Ltd., a Chinese internet technology company. “We’ve made our concerns clear with TikTok. It is now time to continue the committee’s efforts to hold Big Tech accountable by bringing TikTok before the committee to provide complete and honest answers for people,” said Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, the Washington Republican who heads the panel.
