Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut said Monday that he’s opening a probe into the planned merger of the PGA Tour and Saudi Arabia-backed LIV Golf, citing “the risks posed by a foreign government entity assuming control over a cherished American institution.” Blumenthal, who chairs the Senate Homeland Security Committee’s investigations subpanel, tweeted that he’s “demanding information from PGA & LIV on how they came to this agreement with the Saudi Public Investment Fund & how this new entity will be structured & operated.”
