Micron Technology Inc. MU will build a new assembly and test facility in India, the company’s first such project in the country, according to a Thursday release. The memory chip maker will use the facility for assembly and testing of both DRAM and NAND products. Micron plans to locate the facility in Gujarat, India and expects that the first phase will begin to be operational late in 2024. The company intends to undergo a second phase “towards the second half of the decade.” Micron anticipates that it will invest up to $825 million across the two phases of the project.
