The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA is getting a net 20-point boost Thursday from its components that reported earnings, with Walmart Inc.’s stock-price gain offsetting Cisco Systems Inc.’s stock-price decline. Walmart’s stock WMT rose 2.2% after the retailer beat fiscal first-quarter earnings expectations and raised its full-year outlook, while Cisco shares CSCO slipped 0.5% after the networking company’s fiscal third-quarter earnings beat expectations but investors expressed disappointment that orders declined again. But the Dow is a price-weighed index, so a stock’s price move will affect the Dow’s price, not the percentage change. Walmart’s stock rose $3.31, which added 22 points to the Dow’s price, while Cisco shares fell 25 cents, to shave about 2 points off the Dow’s price. Meanwhile, the Dow fell 105 points, or 0.3%.
