U.S. stocks opened higher on Wednesday as investors awaited the latest interest-rate-hike decision from the Federal Reserve, while digesting earnings reports from some of the biggest companies in the S&P 500. The Dow Jones Industrials Average gained 132 points, or 0.5%, to 31,925. The S&P 500 advanced 37 points, or 1%, to 3,957. The Nasdaq Composite climbed 187 points, or 1.6%, to 11,749.
