Shares of F5 Networks Inc. dropped more than 6% in the extended session Tuesday despite a beat for the software company’s fiscal second-quarter results. F5 said it earned $43 million, or 70 cents a share, in the quarter, compared with $61 million, or $1 a share, in the year-ago period. Adjusted for one-time items, F5 said it earned $2.50 a share. Sales rose 11% to $645 million. Analysts polled by FactSet expected the company to report earnings of $2.40 a share on sales of $636 million. F5 guided for fiscal third-quarter revenue between $620 million and $650 million, with non-GAAP EPS between $2.36 and $2.54, which is within FactSet consensus for the quarter.
