President Joe Biden is expected to decide as soon as this week whether to re-nominate Jerome Powell for a second stint as Fed chair or pick Fed Gov. Lael Brainard instead, The Wall Street Journal reported. The newspaper said his meetings with both had only other adviser, National Economic Council Director Brian Deese, and the Brainard meeting “went better than expected.”
