President Joe Biden on Wednesday told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu he expects “de-escalation” towards a cease-fire as the latest Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues, the White House said. The two leaders discussed the state of events in Gaza, Israel’s degrading Hamas’s capabilities and diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict, a statement said. “The President conveyed to the Prime Minister that he expected a significant de-escalation today on the path to a ceasefire,” the White House said.
