President Biden called on Americans to vote in November to expand Democrats majority in the Senate by 2, so that his party has the votes to reform the filibuster in order to pass a law that guarantees American women the right to an abortion in all 50 states.

“Congress is going to have to act to codify Roe into federal law,” the president said during a virtual meeting with Democratic governors on the topic of reproductive health. “The filibuster should not stand in the way of us being able to do that, but right now we don’t have the votes in the Senate to change the filibuster.”

Biden also predicted that if Republicans take control of Washington, “we’re going to meet a situation where the Republicans are going to pass a nationwide prohibition” of abortion.
