The Sr. Systems Administrator – Unified Messaging is responsible for the architectural design, upkeep development, and deployment of the firm’s overall systems.  This position drives innovative new technologies and approaches to enhance and transform existing global technology platforms and systems. The position provides strategic and operational planning to oversee deployment of state-of-the-art messaging solutions for the firm. 

 

 Key Responsibilities

  • Administers the configuration and ongoing operational integrity of key enterprise wide production messaging platform environments including Microsoft Exchange, BlackBerry Enterprise and Mobility (MDM solutions) applications and processes.  Supports initiatives for improving availability & performance of the production systems. 
  • Responsible to provide timely troubleshooting support for messaging server infrastructure with responsibilities of key third party vendors including Microsoft, Apple & Symantec. 
  • Drives improved operational uptime standards providing for a highly available messaging system environment.
  • Leads the analysis of the current technology environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement. This includes, leading the analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the enterprise as well as on the enterprise technology architecture.
  • Operates as the subject matter experts regarding technology trends and the practical application of existing, new and emerging technologies to enable advanced unified communications (on premise and cloud based) operating models.
  • Leads the analysis of the current technology environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement. This includes, leading the analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the enterprise as well as on the enterprise technology architecture.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, PMO, and Information Security to enable change in platform systems with the goal of achieving more capable and cost effective capabilities including defining the service requirements and models that guide vendor selection decisions for the enterprise.
  • Leads the review of technology trends and the practical application of existing, new and emerging technologies to enable advanced unified communications (on premise and cloud based) operating models.
  • Responsible for ensuring operational integrity of key enterprise wide production messaging platform environments including Microsoft Exchange, BlackBerry Enterprise and Mobility (MDM solutions) applications and processes. 
  • Responsible for developing services for improving availability & performance of the production systems. 
  • Coach, mentor and collaborate with technical subject matter experts and peers to propose and execute architectures that enable and drive new business capabilities and operating models for audio, video, messaging and social media messaging systems.
  • Oversee and facilitate the research, evaluation, and selection of hardware and software technology and product standards, as well as the design of standard configurations.
  • Assist with designing the governance, assurance and standards activities associated with ensuring enterprise technology architecture compliance.
  • Oversees critical technology implementations for new or shared cloud infrastructure solutions.
  • Consults on application or infrastructure development projects to harmonize systems to identify when it is necessary to modify the enterprise technical architecture (ETA) to accommodate future project needs.
  • Responsible for maintaining appropriate business and IT strategies — and, more specifically, EA development and service delivery.
  • Develop budgets and hardware/software ordering specifications.  Analyzes vendor costs and develop infrastructure ROI as appropriate in support of budget exercises.

 

 

Skills & Attributes

  • Proven experience with newer technologies including: Microsoft Exchange 2016 with Outlook 2016,  Windows 2010 , Microsoft Skype for Business, SMTP, anti-SPAM applications and Blackberry Enterprise Server, Office  365, Email archiving,  ATP for email security, Mobile Device Management Systems, VMWare, Powershell, Active Directory, Cloud.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills. 
  • Minimum of five years of design and implementation experience in IT, with a deep knowledge in a minimum of 3 of the following technical disciplines: infrastructure and network design, application development, unified communications & application programming interfaces (APIs), middleware, servers and storage, database management and operations.
  • Engineering and or computer science degree from an accredited institution.
